PURPOSE OF POSITION

In partnership with the Events and Operations Manager, you will play a crucial role in the successful execution of all catering events and daily operational functions. The role's primary purpose is to ensure seamless event coordination, from planning to execution, and to assist in the smooth operation of our business. You will collaborate closely with all M2 Kitchen employees, suppliers and customers to guarantee exceptional service and ensure that every detail is meticulously planned and executed to exceed expectations. As an Events and Operations Assistant, you will make a significant impact on the operation, growth and culture of M2 Kitchen, as well as our clients and external stakeholders.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Event Management

• Respond to all catering enquiries and create quotes and invoices
• Communicate with customers via email and on the phone, to understand their needs, address issues and make suggestions to ensure a flawless event experience
• Organise staff rosters for events and communicate with staff to share event information
• Use computer software to meticulously curate job sheets for the kitchen and front-of-house staff 
• Ensure all event details (big and small), including logistics and event execution, are taken care of
• Use initiative to solve problems and create successful outcomes in a variety of off-site event contexts 
• Effectively manage staff, delegate responsibilities and coordinate with the kitchen, venue and event coordinators to ensure events run smoothly and punctually

Other Business Operations

• Perform tasks to support the smooth operation and continued growth of the business, such as accounting, business development, marketing, inventory and general administrative work
• Assist the Events and Operations Manager with the organisation of team meetings
• Contribute to a culture of excellence by example, education and professional development

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS 

• Proven experience in a similar role within the hospitality industry (off-site catering or event management desirable)
• A genuine love of and passion for food and culinary excellence and an unwavering commitment to exceptional customer service to create unforgettable experiences
• Excellent interpersonal, leadership and communication skills, including the ability to converse confidently with staff, customers and vendors
• A friendly, bubbly and professional personality to be able to form strong relationships with our customers and vendors
• Ability to work efficiently and remain calm and focussed whilst in a high-pressure, fast-paced catering environment
• Exceptional initiative and ability to stay several steps ahead in order to anticipate and resolve issues
• A strong work ethic and a willingness to go the extra mile to exceed customer expectations and support the wider M2 Kitchen team
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends (average weekly hours will be 15-20 depending on how busy we are)
• A valid driver's licence and your own transport as you are required to work at various locations
